Ciara Brannigan – DkIT Schools Outreach Graduate Brand Ambassador
Student Experience & College Life Outside the Classroom

Ciara Brannigan is an Applied Music Graduate from Dundalk Institute of Technology. During her time at DkIT, Ciara had the opportunity to represent the college at various events locally, nationally, and internationally. Some highlights of her time at DkIT include performing at the International Society for Music Education Conference, in Glasgow, Scotland during her first year of study, and the Rauland Winter Music Festival 2017, in Rauland, Norway. Ciara was also selected as a participant to represent the institute on an Erasmus+ 3 year programme in Belgium, Norway, and Portugal, to explore how to progress the education system from STEM to STEAM. Along with students and colleagues from international universities, she explored the parameters of STEAM education while designing lesson plans and workshops, which incorporated all elements of STEAM, concluding with a presentation at the International Conference for STEAM Education in Porto, Portugal, 2019. Ciara’s time at DkIT allowed her to travel to various local schools, to work with the students around the area of music and Irish Traditional Music in particular, and involve those local school students in DkIT events and performances. She was also given the opportunity to work with participants from Rehab Care, Dundalk, to compose their own songs, and perform them at the “Hear Our Voices” concert in DkIT. Ciara is now the Schools Outreach Graduate Ambassador for the institute. She hopes her time at DkIT and the passion she has for the institute can help others make the right decision for their future.
